Press and media information
This page is for journalists, researchers, and programme makers who are reporting on Papplewick School or the group litigation brought by former pupils.
Background on the litigation
Former pupils of Papplewick School have instructed specialist lawyers to pursue civil claims in relation to historic sexual abuse and the School's handling of safeguarding concerns. Because a significant number of individuals are affected, the legal team is working towards the court managing these claims together through a Group Litigation Order.
A timeline of key public developments, including criminal proceedings and public statements, is available on the Timeline page. An overview of the proposed group action can be found on the About page.
Contact for press enquiries
To reach the former pupils coordinating this site and the legal team supporting the group action, please email media@papplewick-glo.org.uk.
Please include the following, if possible:
- Your name and role.
- Your organisation and outlet.
- The focus of your story and any specific questions.
- Whether you are working to a particular deadline.
We cannot guarantee that former pupils or their representatives will be able to participate in every interview request, but all messages marked as media enquiries will be passed on in a timely way.
Approach to anonymity and trauma informed reporting
Many former pupils who are considering legal action do not want their names or identifying details to be published. Some may be willing to share experiences on background but not for direct quotation. Others may choose to speak on the record.
Any interviews or quotes involving survivors will be arranged on the basis of clear, prior agreement about how they will be described, how quotes can be used, and whether anonymity will be preserved. We ask that editors and producers respect those agreements and avoid publishing details that could indirectly identify individuals who have asked to remain anonymous.
Use of material from this site
You are welcome to quote short extracts from this website in fair and accurate reporting, provided that the context is preserved and the site is credited, for example "Papplewick Group Litigation Order website" with the domain name. This site does not reproduce court documents or third party material in full.
For detailed questions about pleadings, court applications, or legal strategy, you should raise your enquiry through the contact route described above so that it can be directed to the appropriate member of the legal team.
Nothing on this page is intended to restrict fair and accurate reporting. It explains how best to contact those involved in the litigation and the principles they will follow when engaging with the media.
Comment, accuracy, and ongoing proceedings
The group action sits alongside criminal investigations and regulatory processes. For legal and ethical reasons there will be limits on what can be said about:
We will try to assist with factual clarification and general background wherever possible. Where a statement is provided on behalf of the group, it will usually be cleared by the legal team before being given, and should be quoted in full and in context.
